In 2013 she graduated with Honors from Brigham Young University with a BA in English and a minor in Chemistry. Her Honors Thesis was Scripted, which she self- published in 2021. She also recieved an MS in Physiology and Developmental Biology from Brigham Young University, and worked for several years as a Research Associate at a cancer pharmaceutical company. She has always loved science and literature and enjoys combining the two in her novels. After the birth of her first child, Hillary left her career in research and devoted her time more fully to her family and to writing. She got the idea for her first picture book, Dragons Don’t Wear Shoes, when her daughter tried to put Barbie shoes on a toy dragon and they wouldn’t fit. After struggling to find an illustrator, she ended up learning how to use AI and photoshopping to create illustrations herself and published the book in 2023. In her free time, Hillary enjoys playing computer and video games, and board games with her husband and two daughters. At heart she is still very much a kid and is so glad she has children to make the excuse to watch cartoons every day.
